Process

All works are painted on 9mm mdf board using high pigment value professional graffiti artists spray paint..this gives a very flat finished surface devoid of any kind of brush mark leaving the painting fresh as if it was printed. The paint is UV protected so will not fade even if exposed to prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Each colour section is masked off and sprayed separately allowing the block colours to pop brightly, once a section is dry that part will then be masked off and covered so as to protect the integrity of the painted surface and another part will be sprayed. The black lines are added after all the colours have been put down.

A piece will be made in the aforementioned stages taking between 1 and 2 weeks to complete depending on size and then finally varnished to add an extra layer of protection.

The idea behind this method of work is to have the paintings appear as if they are existing in the present moment without any history or idea of time being taken to produce. Buddhist ideas of present moment focus and oneness are the themes behind this unusual way of working, calling on the viewer to access the work through a kind of meditative approach, looking, thinking and feeling.
